Meet Robin
Defender of Human Rights
Robin has spent her life fighting for dignity, justice, and opportunity. Guided by the belief that every person deserves to live free, safe, and with the greatest opportunities to thrive, Robin has made promoting human rights and education through public service her life’s work.
She began her human rights career in the aftermath of conflict in Europe, helping families reclaim their homes, protecting women from violence, and prosecuting traffickers and warlords. As a civil rights attorney, she defended rape survivors’ right to healthcare and safeguarded free speech. Her desire for policy impact sent her to Washington to serve in the U.S. State Department as an expert on human trafficking and as a diplomat in the Middle East. She learned to legislate at the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, shaping landmark laws to combat human trafficking, protect refugees, and empower women and girls worldwide.
Proven Reformer
As president and CEO of the Texas International Education Consortium, Robin transformed the organization, growing membership by over 100% and strategic reserves by 65%. Her integrity and vision united colleges and universities across the state to work together, creating innovative partnerships that positioned Texas higher education as a global powerhouse. Her work helped bring new investment and opportunity to Texas. At the national level, as a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Obama Administration, she led a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s largest public–private exchange program. As a senior official in the Office of Global Women’s Issues, she led whole-of-government coordination of Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative and a new approach to supporting adolescent girls globally. In the U.S. Senate, she drafted bipartisan-approved language on human trafficking, international education, refugee protection and press freedom.
Impactful Leader
Robin is sought out for her expertise on higher education and advocacy. She continues to strengthen the institutions that make our democracy work. She served as a commissioner on the City of Austin Ethics Review Commission, sits on the board of the Ann Richards School Foundation, and is a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s Texas Advisory Committee as well as the SXSW EDU Advisory. Her leadership bridges civic, educational, and ethical reform — always centered on empowering people and communities to thrive.
Now Robin is ready to bring her energy and experience to the Capitol
— as the next State Representative for Texas House District 49.
She’s running to fight for fairness, opportunity, and a government that works for Austinites.
Because for Robin, public service isn’t a career — it’s a calling.
It’s about showing up, standing firm, and delivering results.
The Vision
Keep Austin Learning
Every child in Texas deserves a great public education — and every parent deserves to know their child is supported and safe. As a mom of two AISD students and a board member of the Ann Richards School Foundation, I’ve seen firsthand how much our schools give, and how little they get in return from the state. As the proud wife of a teacher, I also know firsthand the financial and time commitments our educators pour into their classes. I also know that I want my husband and kids to come home safe at the end of the day. I am tired of fighting just or a status quo that is failing our families. I’ll unite for real investments, innovations and partnerships in our schools that do something different than the status quo. that put our kids’ learning and wellness first, and keep teachers in the classroom and give principals a seat at the table.
Through my work with the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), I’ve partnered with colleges, and universities across Texas to strengthen their global engagement and prepare our students for career success. With both The University of Texas at Austin and Austin Community College right here in our district, I’ll champion policies that strengthen that entire pipeline — from pre-K to higher ed — so that every student, no matter their path, can thrive in Austin and compete globally.
Keep Austin Working
Austin’s economy runs on hardworking people — teachers, nurses, tech workers, service workers, local artists, small business owners — all doing their part to keep this city strong and vibrant. We need policies that honor their work and open doors for the next generation. I’ll push for expanded workforce training, job security, and fair wages, along with transportation options that make it easier for people to get to work and get ahead.
Through my seven years supporting Texas higher education and building global partnerships, I’ve seen how community colleges and universities are the engines of opportunity that power our economy. I’ll work to ensure Austin’s students, graduates, and workers have access to affordable community college pathways, job training, and partnerships that align education with the jobs of tomorrow — from ACC classrooms to UT Austin labs — so that Austin remains a hub of innovation, creativity, and upward mobility.
Keep Austin Thriving
Austin should be a place where people can build a life — not just a stop along the way. Whether you’re raising a family, building a career, or enjoying retirement, you deserve a city you can afford and a state that treats Austin fairly. I’ll fight for equitable state funding for our city — for infrastructure, housing, transportation, and public services — because these are the things that make life better for everyone.
Texas has the resources to invest in people and communities — we just need the political will. I’ll work to make sure Austin gets its fair share of state funding and that those dollars go where they make the most difference: strong schools, affordable community colleges, well-connected transit, and thriving neighborhoods. This isn’t a partisan issue; it’s about fairness, opportunity, and the belief that government should make life better, not harder.
Unite. Fight. Win.
