Happy New Year! I am wishing you, your families, and your friends a fruitful, healthy, and prosperous 2026. 

As we head into a very busy season, I am full of hope and excitement for the next several weeks and everything we have planned. We have built up so much momentum and have a fantastic team of volunteers and students (some of whom we will be featuring in our next newsletter!). None of what we have been able to accomplish thus far could have been possible without each and every one of you. 

To help express my gratitude, I have made a brief thank you video, and it would mean so much if you took time to watch and respond! Because of your generosity, we came within $2,000 of meeting the donation goal before the end of 2025. March 3rd isn’t nearly as far away as it once was, and as we get closer, my resolve grows. 

Last month, I had the chance to meet Beto O'Rourke at the UT Austin campus and chat with him for a few minutes. He was so kind and encouraging and advised me strongly to get out there and meet people where they are. So, that is precisely what I have been doing every day for the last several weeks. From 2:30-6 on weekdays and 11-6 on the weekends, I take to the streets, sometimes on my bike, knock on doors, and speak to folks face-to-face. It's been truly rewarding and eye-opening for me. If you'd like to join me or know someone who might, please sign up -- I'm always up for company. 

Besides block-walking (or block-biking), my team has lined up a lot for me this month. Today, for example, I had a wonderful chance to speak with the Black Austin Democrats, an amazing organization that works to improve the participation, mobility, and education of Black Democrats throughout this area. And then, this Wednesday, I will get to join yet another awesome advocacy group called AURA to discuss affordability, housing, and transportation at their candidate forum. I will be sure to provide an update on how it went in our next newsletter. You can view my full calendar (as it stands today) attached to this email.
